There are many ways Rotarians serve their communities.  On Saturday, July 22, three members of the Weston-Wayland Rotary Club found a new path to do that:  They participated in “The Epic Ride” a charity fundraiser organized by Rotarian Warren Green and this year, John Marchiony and Rob Mosher joined the ride. Wonderfully, President Katya showed up unexpectedly at the 100-mile mark with water and snacks.

The Epic is a one-day, 160-mile bike ride from Wellesley to Provincetown, which follows much the same route as the Pan-Mass Challenge. The riders cycle to raise awareness and money for charitable causes that are meaningful to them.  This year, Warren, Rob, and John's charities are The Rotary Foundation; the Multiple Sclerosis Society; the Dana Farber Cancer Institute; the New England Parkinson's Ride for Research, and the Fenway Community Health’s LGBTQ clinic.

Warren Green said, “The challenge of this epically long ride reminds each of us of the challenges faced by the charities and people for whom we are raising funds. Our sponsors respond to our commitment, embodied in our embracing an extreme physical challenge. Seeing what we are doing, they generously contribute money and good wishes.  I’m always amazed when sponsors tell me, ‘Thank you for giving me the chance to support an important cause.'
