Jul. 17, 2025 2:45 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen - Supper is served for 40-80 people every evening at 5:00 p.m. About half of those served are residents of the Bristol Lodge Shelters for men and women.   Local community and church groups cook and serve the meals provided at the soup kitchen. The Rotary Club of Weston and Wayland is one of these groups that provides warm and hearty meals to those in need.

Robert Mosher Sr., along with his wife Cindy of Weston, MA, brought this program to the attention of The Rotary Club of Weston and Wayland in 1995.  Once a month, the Moshers cooked a meal of spaghetti and meatballs and created a schedule of Weston and Wayland Rotarians who took turns serving the food at Bristol Lodge on the third Thursday of each month.  The Rotary Club of Weston and Wayland has continued this community outreach for over 28 years.

What I learned from my biggest business mistakes

Come and network with other Business Professionals from across the region. Current members of Rotary Clubs in and near District 7910 and the public are welcome.

This months' discussion topic, led by Warren Green of True North Advisors, is "What I learned from my biggest business mistakes."

We’ve all attended lectures and seminars where CEOs talk about the reasons for their success. The discussion at this breakfast meeting will look at business from a completely different perspective:  We’re going to discuss our memorable failures and what we learned from them.  Let’s share our mistakes and, through that, clarify what we learned and help others avoid some of the mistakes we made.

Please join us on Tuesday, September 9, from 7:45 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. at Mel's Commonwealth Cafe in Wayland -- a quintessential breakfast spot.

Address: 310 Commonwealth Road (Rt. 30), Wayland, MA 01778

Club Assembly Dinner Meeting
Oct. 09, 2025 6:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Dear Members,

Please join us for our Club Assembly on Wednesday, October 9. This will be an important meeting where we’ll review the schedule and plans for the balance of the Rotary year. Your input and ideas will help shape our upcoming activities and priorities.

We ask that all Committee Chairs attend, as your updates and perspectives are essential to this discussion. Immediately following the Assembly, there will be a Board Meeting, which will also include Committee Chairs.

In addition, we are looking for volunteers to step into the Hospitality and Sergeant at Arms roles. These are very important positions that help keep our meetings running smoothly and create the welcoming atmosphere our club is known for. If you are willing to serve, please let us know at or before the meeting.

Let’s work together to make the rest of this year strong and successful. We look forward to seeing everyone there and to hearing your thoughts.

Robert Blackburn, President

Pints for Polio on World Polio Day Event
Oct. 23, 2025 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Please join us to support World Polio Day, Thursday, October 23, 2025, for the “Pints for Polio” fundraising event at the Craft Food Hall, 200 5th Ave. Waltham, MA 02451.

Rotary International has been a key player supporting the polio eradication efforts for many years, raising funds and awareness across the globe.  Since 1988, we've seen a worldwide reduction in polio cases of 99.9%.  Only two countries remain polio-endemic: Afghanistan and Pakistan.  We are so close!  Right now, all donations are matched 2:1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, tripling your impact!

This is in that spirit; The Rotary Club of Weston and Wayland continue to organize this annual event for the "World Polio Day”.  The club is actively inviting all the other clubs in the district to join us in any capacity (guests, volunteers, you name it).

Besides sharing the joy and visibility that will come from the success of this event, many other perks will be offered, discounts for  “The Comedy Studio” memberships and shows (https://www.thecomedystudio.com), free entertainment during the event by the band  “West of Willow” ( https://www.facebook.com/WestofWillow), and much more!

Please mark your calendar, use this link (https://raise.rotary.org/District7910/fundraiser711)  to donate and, reach out directly to the club of Weston and Wayland to register to attend and to volunteer.  We are counting on your presence!

Rotary launched PolioPlus in 1985 and was a founding member of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988. The eradication polio is one of Rotaries longest standing and most significant efforts.  Through decades of commitment and work by Rotary and our partners, more than 2.5 billion children have received the oral polio vaccine. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won’t stop until we end the disease for good.

World Polio Day
Oct. 24, 2025
How did Rotary eradicate Polio?

In 1985, Rotary launched its PolioPlus program, the first initiative to tackle global polio eradication through the mass vaccination of children. Rotary has contributed over $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease. Rotary's advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by governments to contribute more than $10 billion to the effort.

The eradication of polio is one of Rotary’s longest-standing and most significant efforts working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years, and we've made incredible progress in the fight to rid the world of it forever. As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we've helped to reduce polio cases by more than 99.9 percent.

Purple Pinky Day:
When a child receives their life-saving polio drops on mass polio immunization days, their little finger is painted with a purple dye so it is clear they have received their polio vaccine. Purple Pinkie Day is also a fundraiser where families in the US give $1 to pay for inoculating kids in developing countries, so US children who donate also get their fingers painted purple.

Nov. 20, 2025 2:45 p.m.

Dinner Meeting & Member Speaker, John Marchiony
Dec. 04, 2025 6:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

This week we will hear from Member John Marchiony.  John's been very busy this year because he's been involved with Adaptive Sports New England as the Board Chair. Adaptive Sports New England is devoted to helping more people with mobility and visual disabilities to play more sports more often.

John met founder Joe Walsh at Dartmouth College and followed him into many activities and adventures, and may have learned the most valuable lessons atop the 35-foot-tall snow sculptures they helped build.

John lived in the same dorm as Diana Golden, who was inducted into the International Women’s Sports Hall of Fame with a citation that read: “She persuaded the ski world to treat all athletes the same, regardless of ability or, in her case, disability.” This perspective, along with Adaptive Sports New England’s mantra of “more sports, more often, closer to home” guides John’s engagement.

John, who'll be joined by Joe Walsh at our Rotary Club meeting, is excited to share the mission, highlights, and invitations to engage with Adaptive Sports New England and its community of athletes and families.
